Stephen Gross

Mystery Train

Spawned in NYC, and schooled at CCNY, Stephen begrudgingly endured a series of barely bearable jobs, eventually following Kerouac and Feynman to the Left Coast where he underwent a restorative metamorphosis volunteering at the Haight Free Clinic in S. F. and altering his conciousness while enraptured by the Natural World, brain-jogging music and people, the sound of screaming in the streets and a staggering amount of rhetoric and information (while working nights for the USPS until they deemed me undesireable).

Three years later, he serendipitously migrated to the West County where his continued excellent luck has brought him good health, the lovely Gloria, a succession of wondrous pooches, and a riverside house in a paradisical setting, a bit west of Monte Rio. He has worked with local media as a photo/journalist, and wrote copy for a wide variety of businesses and community service organizations, has had work widely published, and won several miniscule, albeit ego-boosting, awards for writing and photography. Most recently, he realized a lifelong dream of playing DJ, and now spends several hours a week ruminating over his show, "The Mystery Train", which thunders across the airwaves every Saturday night from 6 to 9 pm.

He works with developmentally disabled adults, grows great tomatoes and apples, and enjoys cuddling with Gloria and the poodles.... but, unlike the nest-obsessed Gloria, he can't quaff his insatiable thirst for travel.

(Thanks KGGVFM-above, he at least gets to take the Train out on Saturday nights!)
